Summer 2017, ZARA confirmed it and one scroll through our Pinterest feed re-confirmed it. The classic, preppy, miniature check print – Gingham – is here to rule. Comfortably pushing aside the summer stripes and making space among all the autumn/winter plaids ruling the fashion circuit, Gingham fits all
carefree sensibilities across seasons.
Pair it with a black turtle-neck and a leather jacket for winter, a bright red, ruffled top for spring and some breezy camisole for summer, this feminine print would mould itself according to the season. The current styles do have their subtle hint to the ’50s, with the sweetheart necklines and demure flare dresses making way for more deconstructed and asymmetrical silhouettes.
More so, can you ignore the classic Parisian appeal of the print? But mind you, if you’re really trying to fool people into thinking you’re French, they call it the Vichy print.
