How To Style A Coat/Overcoat in 2019 – What To Wear In Winter

Hello everyone and welcome back to TrimmingsAndLace.

I have created this video to answer some of the most common questions people have about – How To Style A Coat.

A well-structured, perfectly fitted trench coat or an overcoat is literally my saviour when it comes to winter dressing. Believe you me, when I say that you can get away with wearing anything underneath as long as you’ve managed to conceal that look well under a trench. But your favourite coat can do more than a cover-up. In this episode, titled – How To Style A Coat, sharing with you four different ways you can style your favourite overcoat this winter season.

Look 1 – The first look is the quintessential overcoat look, with the same worn over a sweater dress and stockings. Keeping a very Blair Waldorf vibe, I added a statement headband and completed the look with ballerina flats and a crossbody bag.

Look 2 – The second look is more of my work look with the trench coat adding a layer to the overall look. I’ve layered my regular jeans with a neutral navy blue sweater and have added an oversized blazer in a variant shade of blue. I’ve belted the blazer to structure it and make it coherent to my body shape. I’ve added the overcoat as the final layer and have kept it unbuttoned for the blazer underneath to give a glimpse.

Look 3 – This look is certainly my favourite among all the other looks. The coat has been worn over an oversized sweatshirt. The structured trench helps lend the casual sweatshirt a more formal and polished look. Thigh-high boots and my everyday bag finishes the look.

Look 4 – This look is more of a party look where you can keep the grandeur of your outfit alive with the trench complimenting the same. I began by layering this sequinned dress with a black turtleneck. I believe it is always sensible to dress keeping the weather in mind. I’ve added a large buckle belt herein to structure the trench and define it around my waist. A bold belt on top of a trench, for me, is a very subtle yet classic mix of masculinity and feminity. The dress plays a peek-a-boo while the belted trench adds a stronger element to the entire look.
